Nelson Family Dental Group: quality care by people who care
A patient once said that the dentists and staff at the Nelson Family Dental Group help people achieve their dreams. Your dream may be a beautiful smile, or just strong and functional teeth. Our role is to help you achieve that dream.
Personal and professional growth is key to maintaining a vital interest in a changing dental environment. We know that as techniques change, the needs and desires of patients also change. Our commitment to continuing education assures you of quality care, by people who care. Our staff embraces the caring philosophy of this practice and work to achieve common goals. As a team, we
Maintain the highest standards of quality and integrity
Commit to continuing education
Are flexible and team-motivated
Welcome the opportunities presented by new ideas, techniques and materials
The opportunity to practice in my hometown of Redding, California, has been my own dream come true. I returned here after graduating with honors from the University of the Pacific Dental School in 1981, and have since serviced as president of the Northern California Dental Society. I’ve also participated in PAC-live aesthetic courses (sponsored by Dr. William Dorfman of Extreme Makeover), and I enjoy membership in the Redding Advanced Dental Studies Forum, which focuses on dental implants and reconstruction.
I’m blessed with a wonderful family, with wife Rhonda and children Chris and Kendra. Participating in my children’s lives as a scoutmaster and president of the Shasta High choir boosters and Shasta roller hockey league are memories I will treasure forever.I am also proud to belong to three generations of Redding dentists, along with my father, Leon (who retired in 2006)and my son Chris, who has recently joined Nelson Family Dental Group. I enjoy mountain biking, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and a sort of outdoor treasure hunting called Geocaching.
Along with my staff, a team of professionals and friends I’m privileged to work with, I look forward to discovering what the new millennium holds for both my family and my practice, and I especially look forward to helping as many patients as possible “achieve their dreams.”
Dr. Chris Nelson is an energetic and enthusiastic recent addition to Nelson Family Dental Group. However, as his name suggests, he’s been a member of the family for quite some time.
As a third-generation graduate of University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, Dr. Chris enjoys helping patients achieve their dream smile through quality care and mutual responsibility.
Yet, dentistry is not Dr. Chris’ only occupation. He’s also an avid cyclist, mountain biking as often as possible; hockey player, skating at Big League Dreams several days a week; and photographer, capturing the North State for display on his website: distopher.com. He also enjoys juggling, and is frequently found entertaining kids at the office with his juggling clubs, balls, plungers, and knives!
In addition to delivering care at Nelson Family Dental Group on Fridays, Dr. Chris is the Dental Director at Hill Country Health and Wellness Center from Monday through Thursday. The Wellness Center is located in Round Mountain and offers dental, medical, and behavioral health services to Round Mountain and the surrounding community, including Shasta County.
